Client focused Culture in Asset Management

  • Mr. Hunt will discuss three major themes:
*What does it mean to have a Fiduciary mindset? He will give examples and talk through the issues an asset manager faces when making decisions on behalf of clients rather than on behalf of shareholders. He will highlight some of the conflicts that can arise and offer thoughts on how to address them. David will briefly touch on US regulatory developments surrounding the DOL Fiduciary duty (vacated), the SEC’s Reg BI implementation and the ongoing debate surrounding both of them.
*What are the implications for the culture of an asset manager? He will discuss the elements of culture that are important to set. He will discuss the difficulties of common goals such as asset gathering, AUM levels in driving client performance and suggest a more holistic way of driving the organization to meet long term client needs
*What are the implications for the Industry? He will discuss why asset management does not behave more like a business, but rather looks like a profession. This has important implications for M & A, for consolidation, and for the right way for the industry to consider is own evolution.
