Chair's Message
Advancing a sustainable society through a strong commitment to the mission entrusted to CMA designation holders as finance and investment professionals
The Securities Analysts Association of Japan (SAAJ), a “public interest incorporated association” founded in October 1962, is engaged in activities that promote the sound development of financial and capital markets, thereby contributing to advancing a sustainable society. Its goals are summed up in its mission statement: "to educate the future professionals in the field of finance and investment with a broad perspective, deep knowledge, and strong analytical skills, who meet high ethical standards and maintain flexibility in responding to the changes in society".
At the core, there are more than 29,000 holders of the CMA (Certified Member Analyst of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan) designation who play active roles in various fields such as asset management, research, finance, investor relations, and sales, not only in financial service companies but also non-financial ones. In light of recent government initiatives that prioritize promoting Japan as a leading asset management center and supporting startups, the role that CMA designation holders are expected to play will become increasingly significant.
Since the launch of the Private Banking (PB) Program in 2013, more than 2,000 PB qualification holders have been actively supporting clients such as corporate owners in asset preservation/succession, business succession, and estate planning. Furthermore, in March 2024, we introduced the Asset Building Consultant (ABC) Program to foster talent engaged in assisting clients with asset formation at financial institutions. The number of candidates taking the ABC examination has been steadily increasing.
In parallel, we have also been engaged in advocacy and public communication efforts aimed at promoting the healthy development of financial and capital markets. We believe that providing high-quality information, insights, and resources to a diverse range of market participants contributes to building a more comprehensive and resilient capital market.
We will make further efforts to contribute to society by developing finance and investment professionals who respond to the changing needs of society. We hope for your continuing support of our activities.
