The GIPS standards are a set of standardized, industry-wide ethical principles that provide investment firms with guidance on how to calculate and report their investment results to prospective and existing clients, with the goal of full disclosure and fair representation of investment performance.
The GIPS standards are developed and maintained by the GIPS Executive Committee under the CFA Institute with the participation of over 30 GIPS Country Sponsors.
SAAJ is the GIPS Country Sponsor in Japan, and a member of the GIPS Council and also Asia-Pacific Regional Investment Performance Subcommittee under the GIPS Executive Committee. Several members of the SAAJ Investment Performance Standards Committee have also participated in GIPS EC’s various technical subcommittees and working groups. As such, SAAJ has actively contributed to revisions of the GIPS standards and creation of materials regarding guidance and interpretations.
As GIPS Country Sponsor, SAAJ has continuously promoted the GIPS standards in Japan, and most major investment management firms are already in compliance.
