Effective 1 January 2006, SAAJ transformed SAAJ Investment Performance Standards (SAAJ- IPS) to the Japanese Translation of the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) so as to fully converge with the 2005 edition of the GIPS standards. For more information about the history in Japan, see “Background to Adoption of the GIPS Standards in Japan”.
The GIPS standards were revised, incorporating new requirements on risk and valuation, as the 2010 edition which was adopted by the GIPS Executive Committee on 29 January 2010 (effective date: 1 January 2011). Accordingly, the 2010 edition was translated into Japanese by SAAJ and the Japanese Translation of the GIPS standards, 2010 edition, was adopted by the SAAJ Board of Directors on 1 April 2010 and endorsed by the GIPS EC on 19 April 2010.
If a discrepancy arises between the Japanese Translation and the English version, the English version will be the official governing version.
