The Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) are fully reviewed every five years and the first revision was made in 2005 after the establishment of the Standards in 1999. The 2010 edition is the second upgrade and was adopted by the GIPS Executive Committee on 29 January 2010 (effective date: 1 January 2011) through the public comment period and review process considering comments received from GIPS Country Sponsors and investment industries.
SAAJ, the GIPS Country Sponsor in Japan, submitted comments on the exposure draft of the revised GIPS standards, 2010 edition, to the GIPS Executive Committee, based on the comments received from SAAJ members and other related parties. Also, some members of the SAAJ Investment Performance Standards Committee participated in the review process by GIPS EC’s technical subcommittees and working groups to produce the 2010 edition of the GIPS standards.
