SAAJ is a not-for-profit organization with membership consisting of three categories as below. Individual and Corporate Members have the right to vote and to stand as a candidate at elections of representatives. Associate Members do not have such rights.

• Individual Members
  
  Individual Members are either CMA® holders or General Members.
  
  CMA® (Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan) holders:
  Those who have passed the CMA examinations and have three or more years practical experience in securities analysis, investment management, or a related field.
  
  General Members:
  Officers/employees of Corporate/Associate Members of SAAJ who have three or more years practical experience in securities analysis, investment management, or a related field, or persons who have sufficient professional knowledge and experience in the field of securities analysis and investment management.
  
  
• Corporate Members
  
  Securities companies, investment trust management companies, trust banks, banks, insurance companies, investment advisory companies, and other corporations/organizations deemed qualified by the Board of Directors
  
  
• Associate Members
  
  Corporation/bodies that support/patronize SAAJ's objectives and activities.

• With chartered members (CMA®) as the nucleus, total membership now exceeds 24,000. Members represent the whole investment spectrum, including both sell- and buy-side.
